Home hospice care is—and always will be—the focus of Hospice of Lancaster County. Coping with advanced illness and preparing for life without a loved one are among the most difficult challenges life has to offer. Hospice of Lancaster County provides a highly specialized program for individuals in the advanced stages of any life-limiting illness, as well as their caregivers and their families.

The Hospice team of healthcare professionals provides the highest degree of specialized care through a most compassionate approach. Care is provided at home whenever possible, stressing relief from pain and easing of symptoms. Hospice focuses on comfort rather than cure. Patients and families receive emotional and spiritual support at a time when it is needed most.

Although most people prefer to stay at home,
patients may need another level of care to manage pain or other
symptoms. Care is available for patients and their families in our
Essa
Flory Hospice
Center and the Mount Joy Hospice Center.
Inpatient care is often short-term and patients return home when
symptoms are managed.

The
Essa
Flory Hospice
Center is designed to be a
“home away from home,” with keepsakes adorning bright rooms and plenty
of space for family and friends. The
Hospice
Center is open 24 hours a
day for visitors, and feature living rooms and fully equipped kitchens
so patients and their families can spend as much time together as
possible.

The
Hospice
Center is like no other
caregiving facility. It is a place where people can quietly gather. A
meditation room offers peace and serenity for people looking for solitude.
The soothing sound of falling water from the shell fountain can be heard as
one enjoys the rose garden through beautiful leaded glass windows in the
corridor. Staff work in pleasant surroundings. Garden areas and private
patient patios offer cooling shade in the summer.
