Volunteer Opportunities

Home hospice volunteer
Provides support, companionship and assistance to patients and their caregivers in their home. This may include caregiver relief, emotional support, simple patient care, errands or care teams at end of life.

Inpatient volunteer
Provides support, companionship and assistance to patients and families in the Hospice Inpatient Center.

Nursing facility team member
Provides support to Hospice of Lancaster County patients in skilled nursing facilities by joining a nursing facility team and visiting regularly any or all of the patients.

Music support volunteerPet Therapy
Provides a quiet, gentle, musical presence at the bedside to comfort both patient and family. Both soft-toned instrumentalists and singers are welcome.

Pet therapy volunteer
Shares the unconditional love of a "pet therapy certified" pet with patients, families and staff.

Coping kids volunteer
Provides support, companionship and assistance to children and their families who are experiencing the serious illness or death of a loved one.

Bereavement volunteer
Provides support, companionship and assistance to persons who have experienced the death of a loved one, including assisting staff with tasks and programs.

Foyer volunteer
Provides a link between Hospice of Lancaster County staff and the community. Activities include greeting and welcoming visitors and guests as they enter the Hospice Center.

Community relations volunteer Foyer Volunteer
Represents Hospice of Lancaster County at local health fairs and community events.

Development volunteer
Assists with fundraising activities, including the Annual Labor Day Auction, Holiday Gift Wrapping and Light Up a Life.

Office volunteer
Includes filing, special event mailings, telephone assistance and data entry.

Supper club volunteer
Makes calls at end of day to new patients and their families to check on them at the end of the day.

Green thumb volunteer
Assists with the weeding and watering of the gardens at the Hospice Center or in helping with yard work at the home of a patient.

SoulMate teen volunteer opportunitiesTeen Volunteers
Teens ages 15 through 18 are invited to participate as volunteers, with opportunities to visit patients in skilled nursing facilities or to support the organization by greeting visitors, providing computer support and helping at special events.

Vounteers in partnerships
Offers professionals with limited time the opportunity to share special services with patients and families. A two-hour orientation is required.
