Employee Education
Workforce Development
As part of our continuing effort to provide our patients and families with the best care possible, Hospice of Lancaster County invests heavily in the education and training of our employees. Our internal Education Department provides programs on a wide variety of end-of-life care topics, as well as practical subjects such as documentation, communication and computer skills.
"As a Hospice of Lancaster County nurse, I am privileged to meet amazingly incredible people. I utilize not only my assessment and education skills, I also accompany patients on an intimate journey and help them and their caregivers achieve their end-of-life goals and wishes." - Tracey Wheatley, RN, Director of Access, Hospice of Lancaster County employee since 1985.
Education Assistance
Full-time and part-time employees are eligible for educational assistance one year after they begin work with Hospice of Lancaster County. Education can lead to an undergraduate or graduate degree from a regionally-accredited college or university or a professional designation from a national institute. Each year, many employees benefit from the organization's reimbursement of tuition and book expenses.
"One of the things that I like about working for HLC is that I have the tools and support I need to manage any situation in a home, at an ECF, in the hospital or on the road. Education is readily available, support is a phone call away." - Susan King, Nurse, Hospice of Lancaster County employee since 2004.
"Nursing at Hospice of Lancaster County allows me to use all my nursing arts, knowledge and skills to provide good and thoughtful care. I am able to practice autonomously in an environment supported by the many other disciplines that share in caring for our patients and families going through difficult times. Come see for yourself." - Gretchen Thomas, Admissions Nurse, Hospice of Lancaster County employee since 1994.
